Pyrite is a very abundant mineral and an important iron ore. It usually has a golden color, for which it is sometimes confused with gold by the uninitiated, which is why it is also sometimes called fool's gold or cat's gold.

Up for sale is this neat fossil specimen of a Promicroceras planicosta Ammonite Fossil which is agatized. This piece was found in Charmouth, Dorset, England in Lower Lias Formation, Obtusum Zone.

Promicroceras species are commonly found in South West England, particularly along the Dorset coast.

Pyritic Promicroceras fossils are commonly found along the coast of Lyme Regis where they are well preserved in the Lower Jurassic (Sinemurian) Black Ven Marl.
