Up for sale is this amazing specimen of a fossilized tooth from Basilosaurus, a prehistoric cetacean (whale-like, marine mammal) that existed during the Late Eocene, 30 to 40 million years ago (mya). This piece was found in Morocco.
Basilosaurus or Zeuglodon ("Yoked Tooth") is one of the largest known animals to exist from K/T extinction event.
It was probably an active predator rather than a scavenger.
The tooth type is also known as a “Cheek Tooth”. They are referred to “Yoked Tooth”because its triangular teeth resemble a yoke.
The specimen displays excellently details the swerving serrations. The root and and enamel are fantastic shape.
This is a rare specimen and hard to come by in this excellent condition.
